I have worked in helping professions for over 25 years. In the fields of drug and alcohol, couples counselling, family therapy, sexual assault, men’s behaviour change, out of home care, education and health.
I feel privileged to hear clients’ stories and I hold these stories with integrity and respect.
I believe in creating a safe environment to enable these stories to be shared.
My areas of expertise as a therapist are in addiction, relationship counselling, childhood and adult trauma, parenting and family therapy.
As a First Nations man, I am passionate about working with First Nations individuals, couples and families in a culturally appropriate way. I am also privileged to be a part of a First Nations collective, that provides cultural support and training to workers and organisations, through Yamurrah-https://yamurrah.com.au/about/
I hold qualifications in Social Work and post graduate qualifications in Couple and Family Systemic Therapies.
I am a Clinical Registrant with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)-Therapist Details (pacfa.org.au).
I am an Approved Counsellor for Victims Services NSW and provide services to eligible clients of this scheme.
I draw on many theories/therapies when working alongside clients and will adapt my approaches to suit the needs of clients.
With post graduate qualifications in systemic couple and family therapy, my natural ways of working come with relational understandings.
I use the approaches that best suit the client and the issues that have brought them into counselling. I believe that we are all unique and that one size does not fit all.
Given this we will travel the journey of therapy together and I will highlight and assist in drawing out the skills and abilities clients already possess to assist in facilitating change.
How long will therapy take?
Therapy is a collaborative process, and we will discuss what amount of time is right for you and your circumstance.
I have worked briefly with clients who have a clear stated issue they would like to work through, and I have worked long term with clients who benefit from having a check in from time to time.
